Quick review of the new Webmonkey front page, now that I've had the chance to talk to several people about it. We all agree: It's cool for about 5 seconds. It's that first reaction that goes "Hey!" Then, it's over pretty fast. Everyone also seems to enjoy the Adobe ad much more than the rest of the page. Six months ago was way past due time to lose the TV lines in images, though. I guess the next big thing will be the offset boxes. I was working on that yesterday. I don't think I'll do it now.

At this writing, reportajackass.com is registered but not active. I was inspired to investigate after I let a guy go in front of me in the checkout line, only to watch him BEGIN to write a check after everything had been rung up.

To save energy, I am hanging laundry. Socks turn up missing even if you don't put them in the dryer. (Shopping and laundry reports. Yep, it's a Saturday.)

I am no longer using Blogger, the publishing tool this site has used since inception. It's become too popular for its own good, with too many users, too many bottlenecks and too many posting attempts when I couldn't do anything. So it's all by hand now -- gee, that's tough -- and archiving will be done at the end of the month. Thanks for the memories. It was good while it was good.

I am very upset about the killing off of Mrs. Landingham, not only because it's the demise of a good character, but it's the unceremonious dumping of a network TV rarity: The older woman who isn't a meddling annoyance. Insult to injury: I couldn't find the actress' name on the site.

Update: AP reports that in the California Assembly "Assemblyman Kevin Shelley, a San Francisco Democrat, adjourned the session Thursday in memory of Mrs. Landingham, the fictional president's secretary on the Emmy-winning television show. The secretary, played by Kathryn Joosten, died in the show when her car was hit by a drunken driver."
