In a financial world full of banks with names like First Interstate, First National, First International, First Internet, First This, First That, it really takes guts to name your company Fifth Third Bank.

Slate's take on Dr. Laura. Good stuff.
5/30/2000 10:20:46 AM

Happy Memorial Day. It's also President Kennedy's birthday, which merits a visit to JFK / The Kennedy Assassination Home Page.
5/29/2000 10:15:31 AM

Cats paint, but dogs play the drums.
5/28/2000 05:17:41 PM

Now we know who sings "Key Largo" on that commercial.
5/28/2000 05:14:33 PM

I've been looking for some fake software.
5/28/2000 05:12:56 PM

Vote for your favorite episode of "The Simpsons."
5/28/2000 05:11:53 PM

You can only go to the House of the Future through Yesterland.
5/28/2000 06:53:31 AM

Travel to foreign lands, meet interesting people, put balloon hats on their heads, take pictures.
5/27/2000 06:53:43 PM

I went to the American Museum of Photography looking for Ansel Adams and I found dogs. Bonus!
5/27/2000 06:47:24 PM

Most of the clouds at LookItsA! look like chickens to me.
5/27/2000 06:36:21 PM

Ton o' pictures of the old Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse. Be sure to enlarge figure 9 and picture yourself in the car. More from Nova, and some good general bridge stuff from Discovery.
5/26/2000 05:25:23 PM

Bad business plan: Come up with a name, skip registering the dot com, get pissed when someone does.
5/25/2000 05:49:52 AM

What happens if you type in jesus.com, groovy.com, hipsterdoofus.com, uglyass.com, and noshit.com?
5/24/2000 06:52:40 PM

A couple more from the Favorites list: Futile and 16 Color.
5/24/2000 06:19:05 PM

Haven't seen this in years, probably about the time of the last update, but it's still up! Highway 17 Page of Shame.
5/24/2000 06:17:43 AM

Ain't right in the head? Now you can get an e-mail address to match.
5/22/2000 09:12:14 PM

I'm sorry. Have no idea how they intend to do this.
5/21/2000 04:44:03 PM

I figured asdf was the result of cheap domain names and free hosting, but a whois check indicates it's completely possible someone is paying $275 a year to keep this up.
5/21/2000 02:48:52 PM

Filed just in case the new neighbors aren't nice: the stinkymeat project.
5/21/2000 02:46:36 PM

It's one thing to have a dog fixation. It's quite another to have a dog poop fixation, but it had to go here nonetheless.
5/19/2000 04:26:05 PM

What rhymes with Björk?
5/18/2000 03:43:43 PM

It was the URL that caught my eye. I have very little interest otherwise in The Circle Device.
5/18/2000 02:08:29 PM

Why am I sending you here? Design your own Barbie.
5/18/2000 10:11:30 AM

A plastic surgeon "fixes" some noses in famous paintings.
5/18/2000 10:03:23 AM

Enter the Veat slogan contest. Remember, you'll have to topthese.
5/18/2000 09:52:29 AM

John-Kichi gets a present! Cute, cute, cute.
5/18/2000 09:32:58 AM

Fonts are fun, but dingbats are too cool.
5/16/2000 05:46:11 PM

This should be interesting: Losers, love and the Internet collide at Way Too Personal.
5/14/2000 08:07:18 PM

Why futz around with someone else's idea of what you want/need in a portal? Make your own OnePage.
5/14/2000 03:50:03 PM

We've been wanting to get a water dispenser for the office.
5/13/2000 05:20:53 PM

Yay, someone funny with a dog fixation: Still Life with Dog. Which, of course, sent me off in search of Merrill Markoe. And then, there's this at Salon.
5/13/2000 12:26:01 PM

Goodies you may have missed: Derek's Big Website of WalMart Purchase Receipts, Dynamic Mona, Genochoice, and one of my all-time favorites, for hours of diversion, Lileks (James).
5/10/2000 05:11:29 PM

Atomic spies or hapless victims of a frame-up? An American tragedy either way: The Rosenbergs.
5/10/2000 10:33:42 AM

KGO radio has redesigned its site, although someone seems unclear on the proper use of thumbnails. But I do like the way it makes Dr. Laura look.
5/10/2000 09:10:46 AM

The first time I took ColorQuiz, the results were so weirdly accurate it freaked me out. I took it again a few days later, with somewhat different results, but still eerily on target. Skeptic in me asks if it's for real or just works like horoscopes, where everything is bound to be true for someone somewhere at some point.
5/10/2000 08:25:39 AM

I entered a contest at ZDNet -- Design Your Own Program. I hope I win. They build it if you win, and I could really use my own idea.
5/10/2000 06:53:27 AM

Ooh, pretty. Trippy. Psychedelic.
5/7/2000 05:41:20 PM

I am writing this down now because I know at some point I'll need to look up Every file format in the world.
5/7/2000 02:16:57 PM

Wish I'd thought of skipintro.com.
5/7/2000 01:00:02 PM

Minimalism loads damn fast. 5k Web page winners.
5/6/2000 05:49:43 PM

Childhood flashback at the Museum of Pocket Calculating Devices. I used to have a Magic Brain calculator. The stylus holder is broken on this one. Pull the metal handle on top to reset. And, no, those 'pushbuttons' didn't do anything.
5/6/2000 03:58:59 PM

Duck and cover. That'll save you. And if you're in need of a new conspiracy theory, begin to question why you've never seen the Arthur Godfrey film.
5/6/2000 07:44:12 AM

Take a trip. Where will you go? Get lost in superbad. I especially like this page because I suffered through a year at work on the worst, oldest, p.o.s. Mac in history. Had I only known it was this easy to upgrade.
5/5/2000 12:35:22 PM

Found this site while checking out headline blocks from the syndicate to the right. I'm thinking something's gotta go to make room for stuff like Pathetic Love Advice.
5/2/2000 08:32:57 PM

Take a video trip back to 1980, as CNN goes on the air, and Dave and Lois had much more hair and makeup.
5/2/2000 05:02:57 PM

Note to self: Deconstruct page at Palette Man. Step 2: Take up drug use.
5/2/2000 04:02:51 PM

Ever want to write for television? Even indirectly? Very indirectly? Take your chances with Just Jack!
